Day Capital Partners Announces 1447 Peachtree To Become Silhouette in Midtown
Press Release
January 26th, 2007
ATLANTA, GA, January 26, 2007 - Day Capital Partners ("DCP") today unveiled their plans to renovate 1447 Peachtree Street, a 116,000 square foot office building located on Peachtree Street in Midtown, Atlanta where W. Peachtree joins Peachtree. Formerly recognized by the street address, DCP intends to transform this 1960's building into a "stylishly cool and decidedly contemporary" office building named Silhouette Midtown.
DCP purchased the building in September 2006 with over 50% of the building vacant with the intent to transform it into a modern, boutique office building which caters to the personalities and creative energy found in Midtown. To capture this architecturally, DCP hired Lincoln Property Company and REES Architects to execute the renovation plan. The exterior design of the building is bold and innovative, featuring, 9 story, silhouetted images of people wrapping the south and west exposures of Peachtree Street in a style seen more typically in trend setting cities like New York and Los Angeles. Vice President of REES, Richard Macri said, "We wanted to advance the art culture already dominant on the stretch of Peachtree starting at Woodruff Arts Center/High Museum up to the Savannah College of Art (SCAD)." In fact, Silhouette Midtown already has an art venue of its own located in the ground floor named, MOCA, the Museum of Contemporary Art, which features a 5,000 square foot gallery displaying the work of Georgia artists. "The personalities of the people of Midtown are literally represented on the outside of the building and this theme is carried through in the building lobby and common areas", Macri continued. Robert Day said, "We believe we are delivering a product in short supply but high demand in this submarket. Businesses want to locate in buildings which reflect themselves - that is why we called it Sihouette!"
In total, DCP intends to spend over $5 million dollars renovating and re-tenanting the project. DCP's, Joe Wilen is quick to point out that "tenants will not only be able to enjoy the 'cool' environment, but will also benefit from the comforts of new, state of the art, HVAC and window systems." Leigh O'Reilly of Lincoln Property Company handles the leasing and explains, "Finally there is a project in Midtown that is in touch with what tenants want. Previously, creative firms would have to go to outlying, less secure and less convenient locations to get "cool" space. Now they can come to Peachtree Street, to Silhouette Midtown."
